The client requested a restrained green-and-gray plant palette and minimal flowers, to harmonize with black granite driveway, charcoal stucco of the house, and silvery fog of the coastal environment. This graceful Santa-Barbara style house, sited on large lot with a creek running through it, has views over the Lodge and south across Carmel Bay. Built in 1926, it is a charming example of its type, with many original tile insets and custom ironwork and light fixtures.
The areas of original brick patios and Carmel-stone walls that remained in good shape were left intact, and revisions and additions made to accommodate modern entertaining and outdoor life. MORE>>
